\nfor what it could become.

\nI was an oppressor before
\nI was a teenager
\nI was a tyrant.

\nA forklift driver
\ndropped a coin in a bottle.

\nsnake oil salesman.

\nGot the skanky
\ndetails. Used meth-

\nAt noon, we weaved
\nbacon into a pitcher
\nand filled it with melted cheese.

\nSome of the surrounding poets were divorcees
\nwearing clothing the color of water.

\nThe poets will have heard trees
\nfalling for hours. A hog will say
\n 
\nno bikes on the sidewalk.
\nBack inside
\n 
\na plate of original pancakes
\nwill hit the floor.
\n 
\nWe can have faith
\ntrees will never, ever
\n 
\nexplode. In the future
\nthere won\u2019t be jokes,
\n 
\nthere will be numbers
\nand rainbow waste in the water
\n 
\nand an inhalation hazard
\nis hidden in the library
\n 
\nquite deep enough
\nto have become a byword in the land.

\nThe poets will be listening.
\nThey will be listening.

\nThey will pinch off some clay
\nand throw it into the wilderness.
