SIMPLE BIOLOGY<\/strong>
\n 
\nEveryone that I have ever known
\nwho would say \u201cI think we\u2019re
\ngetting somewhere!\u201d ate donuts.
\n 
\nI think of them as The Donut-Eaters.
\n 
\nWhat a movie this could be!
\nwith their getting somewhere
\nand eating donuts, and me
\nwatching from a safe distance
\n 
\nunder an apple tree
\nwith my tummy making
\nsounds and all the paper wolves
\n 
\nin my head staring at
\nthe donuts in my heart
\n 
\n

\nCRY MOVIES<\/strong>
\n 
\nI love movies that have no love or sex in them.
\nUsually I find that movies that have sex in them
\nmean somebody will get pregnant and then there
\nwill be one more name to remember. Usually I find
\nmovies that have love in them also have death in
\nthem, because if you love someone and they don\u2019t
\ndie, what\u2019s the point of crying? There\u2019s no drama.
\nYou can\u2019t have someone crying for no reason, not
\nin a movie. Although I do remember this one movie
\nin which everyone was crying all the time\u2013cry, cry, cry.
\nThey were all strangers and they were crying
\nall the time. They were all crying because they
\nwere all strangers and loneliness makes you cry.
\nIt was the most beautiful movie I ever saw.
\nWhen at last they died because of loneliness,
\nwhich of course they would have to,
\nI made a new decision about the movies
\nI would from now on see.
\n 
\nYou can now cry in movies
\nthat I will from now on see.
\nBut if you cry, you must die,
\nand even if you are born
\nhalf way through, and even
\nif you are young and soon
\nlonely and then die, I will
\nstill not remember
\nyour name.
\n 
\n

\nI KNOW OF PAINTINGS WITH HUMAN FACES<\/strong>
\n 
\nI know of paintings with human faces
\nand the faces are composed of fruit
\nthe smile is guava and the eyeballs
\nare mangos and the noses are bananas
\nand the lips are papaya and the hair
\nis coconut. Surely what the painter
\nis telling us is that we come from
\na tropical island and there is no
\ngoing back from this place of love
\nand over abundant sunshine and
\nsurely there is no reason to\u2013
\n 
\nOur faces are beautiful and we must
\nlearn to trust and to love and to never
\neat ourselves alive until that cloudy day
\n 
\nWhen the painter goes home for lunch
\nand never comes back
\n 
\n <\/p>\n
