Drawing on decapitation theory\u00a0and the post-cephalic nature of cinematic\u00a0experience, it documents a viewer\u2019s\u00a0repeated decollation as a way of documenting\u00a0the invented films. But as the\u00a0films themselves are also documenting\u00a0the viewer, each is ultimately feeding on\u00a0and inventing the other. However unique\u00a0a human head, its coming off demands\u00a0a sequel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>30 Fake Beheadings<\/em> is the last film guide you&#8217;ll need. The films Gary J. Shipley describes don&#8217;t exist, but the descriptions are deadly: they&#8217;ll take your head off. As you&#8217;re beheaded, you&#8217;ll see what he&#8217;s made: a frightening, fucking funny sequel to the world\u2014and films\u2014you used to know.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u2013 Derek McCormack<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m a sucker for this type of book\u2014imaginary catalogues, false biographies, fantastical encyclopedias, etc.\u2014perpetrated variously by Schwob, Borges, Capek, Pavic, and others. Now Shipley. His is a mordant list of nonexistent movie sequels, many of them funny on their face alone: <em>Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom 2<\/em>. It&#8217;s a terrific and endlessly effective conceit; but beyond the gag, Shipley locates a real and abyssal pathos.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u2013 Keith Leslie Johnson<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Gary J.
